Members of the FRPA and it's coaching staff will be heading out the Denver door to compete against the world. Beginning on June 6th we will depart for training in Durango and preparing for the US Whitewater Slalom Team Trials. Next, On to Salida, Colorado to race at the National Wildwater Championships and Western Junior Wildwater Team Trials. That following weekend we will compete in the Junior Olympic Qualifier and FibArk Slalom Championships and 26 Mile DownRiver Championships. The FRPA athletes will be attempting to defend it's downriver championship that Nic Borst won in 2004. Nic was the youngest ever champion to win this grueling 26 mile race through class 4 whitewater and high temperatures. Nic put on a tough fit to beat out Olympian Scott Shipley and world famous Whitewater Park Designer Gary Lacy.

We will then head back to Denver for a few days of recharging, laundry and repacking for the next one month plus journey. FRPA members will depart for beautiful South Fork Payette, Idaho. This is the home of Cascade Whitewater Team. Here we will experience great training in the great whitewater of the Payette River. After nearly a week we will drive our caravan to the town of Hood River and Bend, where we will take on the mighty White Salmon river and the Deschutes river throughout the area. These rivers are surrounded by some of the most majestic volcanic peaks such as Mount Hood, Mt Ranier, Mount St. Helens and Three Sisters. We will also be spending time off the rivers and trying our hand at kite boarding and hiking the local trails while visiting Lassen Volcanic Monument.

Next we head on to Seattle, where we will visit the Experience Music Project. This Guggenheim Designed building hosts the history of music through interactive stations and sensory filled rides and exhibits. We will then eat at the world famous Pikes Place Market and visit the flying fish.

Next we head to Chilliwack, BC, the home of the Canadian National Team Training Center. Here will will be training with some of the Canadian development athletes on this world class slalom facility. Some side trips off the slalom course will be to surf the world famous Skookumchuck Narrows (tidal wave) and visit the Squamish area of BC to visit a Canadian Whitewater legend and local slalom course. After returning to Chilliwack for a few days we will then make our way to the Alberta/Edmonton area to train with our Canadian friends at the Alberta Whitewater Center, headed by Greg Hunter.

After gathering all our goods and new friends from the different sites, we will make our way down to the US after 3 weeks of travel to the Minnesota First US Cup Race, and then for the US Junior Olympic Races and US Cup Series. These races are located in Wasau, Wisconsin and South Bend Indiana for the US Junior Olympics and US Cup Slalom and Wildwater Races.

After immersion within many languages and lifestyles we will return to Denver for relaxation for one week. Back on the road for the Colorado Cup finals in Buena Vista on the Arkansas River and onward to Kernville, California for the US Whitewater Slalom Nationals.
