We are planning the first annual Plover River Slalom "Spring Starter" race in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. We are total rookies, and all can be blamed on our inspiration, Michael Hickey & David Kurtz. We live on a class 1-2 river, and will re-hang our gates April 14th, with the "Spring Slalom Starter" to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday through 2:00 p.m. or until the last boat runs. Our goal is to accomodate as many paddlers as possible and have a safe fun event. We will set a goal for 18 gates, and have contacted both the high school and University Adventure Ed. Students. This is extremely low key, there are features, waves, boulders but nothing beyond class II. We are just trying to get a foothold here in Central Wisconsin and inspire kids, families and adults to love rivers, and thus protect them.
