Discounts available if the child is participating in multiple FRPA camps.  Scholarships also available based on financial criteria.

June 4-8 Text Box: Learn To Kayak With The FRPA!

 

The FRPA will be offering an after school camp which will run from 3:00pm-7:00pm based upon interest.  From flatwater skills pushing to whitewater we will use the various training centers in the Front Range that we have to offer. The cost will be 350.00 per person and includes gear if needed.  Please contact us ASAP if you are interested, or to make individual session appointments.

June 11-17: FibArk Whitewater Camp.  Download Word Schedule

The most well rounded of the FRPA camps offering everything from Wildwater, Slalom, Freestyle and River Running. The training camp will conclude with the 2007 USA Wildwater National Championships and the FibArk 26 Mile Downriver Challenge as well FibArk Slalom Races and Freestyle competitions. Competitors from around the world flood into Colorado during this week of festivities, which will also include a town carnival and various musical performances. Our athletes will enjoy a week of river running on some of the best sections of rivers in the World. We will break into different groups based on ability from Intermediate to advanced.  Each day will offer at least two full technical coached sessions, as well as one river run. The group will be camping during this week in the Salida Valley along the Arkansas River.  

  • COST is 500.00 - all inclusive per child. Camping and boating gear is available based on a first come first serve basis.

June 18-28: Beginner and Intermediate Canoe/Kayak Camps

With summer well on its way, it is time to put on the sun screen and head outside!  What better way then to escape the summer heat then to spend your days on the river!

For anyone who is interested in learning to kayak and just beyond the beginner steps, this is your chance. 

The FRPA is hosting their annual beginner camps during the month of June.  During this series of camps, you will learn everything you need to enjoy all that the spectacular river environment has to offer.  From basic strokes, and river safety, to how to roll your boat back over if you flip, The FRPA’s experienced coaching staff will help you to learn all about this unique and challenging sport. This camp is for all ages, and all gear will be provided. 

The FRPA Beginner Camps will consist of a number of flatwater sessions, where you will be introduced to the foundations of kayaking, and have an opportunity to practice them, before setting off to one of Colorado’s many beautiful river settings, where you will be able to put your new skills into practice, and experience the thrill of whitewater kayaking . From here you will stand a chance to qualify for the Junior Olympics and test your new skills against everyone from around the US and Canada.

July 2007

June 19 - July 8: The FRPA High Performance Summer Camps Begin! A traditional part of the FRPA summer adventure first established for competitive whitewater athletes in 2005. Athletes will arrive in Denver where they will be based for the duration of the High Performance Camp. The High performance Camp will include two on the water coached sessions per day, as well as a cross training workout, which will consist of everything from running and calisthenics to waterskiing, hiking, rock climbing and swimming. Athletes will also be provided with race day instruction, video resources, class room sessions, and fun trips including river runs on some of Colorado’s most famous rivers, a trip to Six Flags, and much more! The final week of the High Performance Camp will conclude with the US Cup Series Race #3 on June 30th, the 2007 Jr. Olympics on July 7th and finally with US Cup Series Race #4 on July 8th. It will be an incredible way to train and race at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, in the fun and super constructive style that the FRPA is known for. “We Train Hard, But Play Harder!”

July - August 2007 Traveling Camp

July 12 - August 7:   The 2007 FRPA East Coast Tour! This camp is an extension of the High Performance Summer Camp, and is meant for dedicated and experienced paddlers, who want to train and race at some of the worlds top whitewater destinations. Heading out from Denver on the 12th of July the FRPA will head to Charlotte NC for a week of training on the newly completed US National Whitewater Center.  Site of the 2007 US Team Selection and the 2007 Jr. World Championships in Wildwater Racing.  While in Charlotte, athletes will have a chance to train on world-class water, and will also be able to cheer on the US Jr. Wildwater Team in both the sprint and classic races.  Also while in Charlotte, athletes will have a chance to experience many of North Carolina’s most exciting rivers, as well as all of the fun of exploring Charlotte as a tourist.

              From Charlotte, the camp will head north over a series of days, on route will hit some of the best classic river runs in the world.  From the New River, to the Gauley, to the Susquehanna, and the Potoma Rivers. It will be a river running extravaganza and will provide a "rest: from the normal intense training routine.  After a few days of river running, the camp will arrive for a few days of training in the DC area, and will experience the Dickerson Whitewater Course, and all of the fun things that come with a visit to the Nations capital.  From visiting monuments, to experiencing the incredible museums and sights of DC, it will be a truly unique adventure! 

              Finally it will be a short jog from eastern MD to western MD sight of the 2007 US Slalom National Championships on Aug 5th.  The camp will spend it's final week in preparation for the big race, which will be the culmination of the racing season.  But don’t worry, there will still be some great opportunities for fun, including running the upper and lower Youghegheny, and even the Savage river site of the 1989 Slalom World Championships. Then after this incredible adventure and whirlwind of a camp, it is back to Denver (Aug 5th) and home for some well-deserved rest, and to share stories with friends and family.     

 

  • All Inclusive trip cost- 2000.00 per person all inclusive (course fees, coaching/supervision, accomodations, transport, food and gear if needed). -Cost estimate due to constant rising gas prices and rental rates for vans
