What is a FRPA High Performance Whitewater Camp ?

The FRPA High Performance Whitewater Development Camp started in 2005 through a shared vision of excellence through paddling, as opposed to simply paddling excellence. For us, the Olympic motto has been a guiding principle in all of our lives, making us not only better athletes, but hopefully better people. Our goal is not only the development of better athletes, but better people. Better people embody the ethics and values required to achieve paddling excellence.

We will instruct the total person through the medium of kayaking. Outstanding athletes are merely a bi-product of this process. Daily practices are structured into blocks and themes based on the Five Olympic Ideals: Vision, Focus, Commitment, Persistence and Discipline. Each ideal fits into both our athletic and everyday, out of the boat lives. We are not satisfied with paddling excellence, we have a vision for much more. We coach the total person, striving for excellence through paddling.

These camps focus on all forms of whitewater competition which includes Wildwater, Slalom and Freestyle. These disciplines of Whitewater competition are then competed in during the Junior Olympic and US Cup Series to help further the all around development of our athletes. These disciplines then allow kids to qualify and represent the US in International Competition.
