It was a great trip for FRPA's Elite Racing Team.
The coaches would like to thank all participants for their hard work and attention to detail on and off the water. Without the help from everyone, trips like this could not come off without a hitch as this one did.
The group was missing some of it's usual team members, but due to the amount of school missed during each season it is not always possible to attend every trip. Despite the missing athletes we still had an impressive 12 youth athletes participating for 10 days. Athletes flew or drove in and out at different periods from afar to take part in this training/race camp.
A special thank is due to Olympian Ben Kvanli, Michelle Clements and Mark Poindexter for hosting such a large group and entertaining us on and off the water.
This was the first time for the team to participate in Austins Kayak Polo league games in Austin City Center. Many flips, face mask tugs and shots to the ribs were had, but this did not put a wrinkle in these kids and coaches fun.
The weather was a fine relief from the winter everywhere North of Texas. Team members from as far as Calgary, BC and New York were present in an attempt to miss the cold weather. We failed near trip end with highs in the low 30's.
The Texas Sr Team Trials Qualifier race allowed for our kids and coaches to qualify to compete at the US Whitewater Slalom Team Trials this April. FRPA athletes competed aginst one of the other top development teams from the North Carolina area and racers from Russia as well many other states.
Congratulations is in order for the below athletes who have qualified to compete in the USA Whitewater Slalom Team Trials. These athletes will have the opportunity to compete for the spots representing the US in Olympic Level International Competition this summer.
